Who we are

Word Warriors is a vocabulary learning app designed for use by children under the supervision of a parent or guardian. Accounts are created and managed exclusively by adults aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

What we collect

• Account email address — used to create and identify your account, and to send a one-time verification email.
• Learning progress — which words have been practiced or mastered, session counts, and streaks. This data is tied to your account and stored securely.
• App preferences — settings such as cards per round, daily goal, and selected language.

We do not collect names, dates of birth, physical addresses, payment information, or any information about the child using the app.

How we use your data

• To operate the app and save learning progress across sessions and devices.
• To send account verification and password reset emails.
• To improve the app based on aggregate, anonymous usage patterns.

We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for any purpose other than operating Word Warriors.

Children's privacy

Word Warriors is designed so that children do not need to create accounts or provide any personal information. All accounts are held by the parent or guardian. The app does not display advertising, does not include social features, and does not collect any data directly from the child.

If you believe a child has somehow created an account directly, please contact us immediately and we will delete the account and all associated data.

Cookies

We use two categories of cookies. You can change your preference at any time in Settings.

Data storage and security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, hosted in the EU (eu-west-1). All connections are encrypted via TLS. Access to your data is restricted by row-level security policies — you can only read and write your own data.

Legal basis for processing

We process your data on the basis of contract performance (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR) — specifically, to provide the Word Warriors service you signed up for. We do not rely on consent or legitimate interest as a basis for processing your personal data.

Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data (learning progress, session history, settings) is permanently deleted within 30 days. Accounts that have been inactive for 24 consecutive months may be deleted along with all associated data; we will notify you by email before doing so.

Your rights

Under GDPR you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Right of access — you can request a copy of the data we hold about you.
• Right to rectification — you can ask us to correct inaccurate data.
• Right to erasure — you can delete your account directly from Settings, or contact us and we will action the request within 30 days.
• Right to portability — you can request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
• Right to object — you can object to processing at any time by contacting us.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at help@word-warriors.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
